Prison Officers And Gardai Hearing Aid Supports
Financial Supports For Prison Officers
If you’re an actively serving or retired prison officer and you are a member of The Prison Officers Medical Aid Society, you can avail of a free hearing test plus coverage of 90% towards the cost of hearing aids (subject to a maximum of up to €500 every five years), for each ear. The society currently has over 10,500 members. These hearing aid financial supports are in addition to the normal grants for people who have sufficient PRSI contributions, which can provide further savings of up to €1,000. PRSI contribution dependent hearing aid grants are available from the Department of Social Protection under the Treatment Benefit Scheme.
Hearing Aid Financial Supports For Members of An Gardai Síochána
For members of the Garda community, including Gardai and their families, as part of the Garda Benefit Guide (St. Paul’s Garda Medical Aid Society), members can avail of a contribution of 60% of the cost of hearing aids (subject to a maximum of €1,000 per ear, every three years). This contribution is applied following deduction of the PRSI entitlement from the total cost of the hearing aids.
Hearmed is here to assist with the process in any way we can. From our free hearing tests and consultations to fitting you with the most suitable hearing aids, we’re dedicated to ensuring you receive all the support and assistance you need.
